Return to Sport Following ACL Reconstruction : Performance vs Prediction
Recent research has questioned the ability of return to sport assessments to accurately identify patients who are at increased risk of reinjury or not fully prepared to return to sport. Interpreting these findings is made more difficult by varying definitions of successful return to sport and outcomes measured and collected across the literature. This talk will reconcile the conflicting information in recent findings in performance assessment and emphasize the use of a principle-based, performance-oriented approach to return to sport assessment. Practical examples will be provided that can be integrated into practice to better inform your clinical decision making and help your patients maximize their performance and minimize reinjury risk when they return to sport.

Dan Ogborn PT MSc (PT) PhD CSCS has dedicated his career to understanding the human body from the inside out. Trained as a scientific researcher, strength coach, and physical therapist, he blends techniques from all fields to optimize health and performance across various populations, from those with injuries to those seeking elite performance. He works as a Research Associate and Physical Therapist with the Pan Am Clinic Foundation, where he has developed a clinically oriented research program focused on Return to Sport assessment.
