MANAGEMENT OF THE ATHLETE – Workshop Series for Physiotherapists Working in Sport

A free evening workshop series put on by SPC Alberta aimed at improving the skill set of physiotherapists working in sport in the community. Format will vary based on subject but expect both Lecture and Practical components when Applicable. Sign up is limited based on venue. Attend as many as you like.

Concussions and Balance: From Assessment to Return to Play

Presenters: Codi Isaac, PT; Thaer Manaseer, PT

Location: Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic

Learning objectives:

  1. introduce balance systems model
  2. reviewing balance tests in concussion
  3. current research in balance with concussion

Student Merit Award 

Awarded in Summer 2020

Purpose

To recognize Albertan physiotherapy students who show evidence and a desire for involvement in Sports Physiotherapy, working with teams, and event coverage. In addition, to provide support to maintain Sport Physiotherapy Membership following graduation.

Award Criteria

SPC-AB will award ONE $200.00 Merit Award, to the most deserving student, based on the following criteria:

  • Must be a registered physiotherapy student at the University of Alberta in their graduating year of the program
  • Must accumulate 20 or greater hours of team/event coverage
  • Have a minimum valid first aid and CPR certification or greater
  • Must be a current Sport Physiotherapy Canada memberAll materials must be postmarked no later than June 1, 2020.

SPC Alberta Credential Exam Registry

SPC Alberta is offering registered candidates of the SPC Credential Program the opportunity to network with other candidates in preparation for the Certificate and Diploma exams. Interested members can forward their contact information (name, email, city, the exam they will next be challenging), which will be made available to other members of the registry.  This will provide the opportunity for candidates to utilize each other as resources in preparation for the exams.”
