Job Title: Team Physiotherapist
Department: Huskie Athletics
FTE: 2.0 FTE (One permanent position, one 13 month maternity leave)
Salary: Specialist Professional, Phase 2 ($62,850 – $98,205)
Primary Purpose: Provide physiotherapist expertise to Huskie student-athletes for assigned teams in
Huskie Athletics to maximize athlete performance through pre-participation screening, injury
prevention, concussion management, injury assessment, treatment, and return to play
Nature of Work: Reporting to the Associate Athletics Officer – Program Operations, Huskie Athletics,
this position collaborates with Huskie Athletics coaches, administration, and other sports medicine
and science providers. The Team Physiotherapist is required to work under pressure, in a high volume
and dynamic environment within an alternative work plan.
 Provide evidence supported sport physiotherapy to varsity athletes including but not limited
to: best practice pre-season clearance to participate, emergency on field care, accurate and
timely assessment, rehabilitation, post-operative care, return to sport progressions and injury
 Work in partnership with members of the Huskie Health Care Coalition collaborating in the
care and management of athlete injuries to support quick diagnosis and timely and safe return
to sport;
 Collaborate within the Huskie Interdisciplinary Team, and be a key member of the sport
specific Performance Enhancement Team (PET) for your team assignment;
 Ensure Huskie Health privacy policies and procedures adhere to professional practice
guidelines and university policy;
 Responsible to adhere to Huskie Health charting standards.
 Ensure Huskie Health budgetary targets are met.
 Supervise the Huskie Student trainer program to ensure proper team assignments,
preparation and delivery of the weekly seminars, recruit prospective student trainers for the
following season, and provide mentorship throughout the season;
 Create and deliver presentations for Huskie Student-Athlete Orientations in collaboration with
all Huskie Health team members;
 Responsible for supporting other Huskie Health Team Physiotherapists in carrying out their
respective assignments including but not limited to: Return-To-Play protocols, policies and
procedures aligning with best practices, and fee-for-service.
Education: Master of Physical Therapy/BScPT or equivalent. A Certificate or Diploma in Sport
Physiotherapy is preferred.
Licenses: Eligible for licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists; valid First Aid,
CPR and Sport First Responder Certification and membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy
Association (CPA) is encouraged
Experience: Experience in the area of orthopedic and sports physiotherapy; previous experience
working with elite athletes in a team environment, past experience within a University athletic
program is an asset, as is previous teaching experience and experience mentoring and supervising
student athletic trainers.
Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills required. Knowledge and proficiency in
Electronic Medical Records, preferred Clinic Master.
