We are thrilled to announce a new and exciting fellowship opportunity for aspiring sport physiotherapists. The Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Clinic, British Columbia’s most established sport and exercise medicine centre, has partnered with the Vancouver Whitecaps to offer a joint one-year fellowship. The fellowship is designed to create a collaborative and comprehensive orthopaedic and sport physiotherapy learning and work experience. Come join our group as we pave the way forward in sports physiotherapy.

Fellowship Details:
• 1-year term (January 3th 2023 – December 30th 2023)
• 20 hours weekly on-field and training room coverage for Vancouver Whitecaps Academy U19 team
• Additional hours assisting the athletic therapist with Whitecaps FC2 in the MLS Next Pro League
• 15-18 weekly clinical hours at Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Clinic – Chan Gunn Pavilion (UBC campus)
• Research opportunity in sport/orthopaedic physiotherapy
• Weekly mentorship by SPC Diploma holder
• Weekly collaborative sports medicine education rounds (sports medicine physician, orthopaedic surgeon, radiologist, physiotherapist, physiatrist)
• Further education opportunities in conjunction with the sport and exercise medicine fellow (physician)
• Other sport coverage/on-field opportunities to fulfill SPC Certificate or Diploma required hours (rugby, hockey, basketball, etc.)
• Opportunities with multi-sport games and medical coverage for events (cycling races, marathon, etc.)

Required by Start Date:
• Must be a registered physiotherapist with the College of Physical Therapists of BC, including valid professional liability insurance
• Must be registered through SPC and SPC Credential program
• Must have completed a Sport First Responder course (SPC, St. John, Red Cross, etc.)
• Must obtain a Criminal Record Vulnerable Sector Check
